# Installing Launch Day

> Install Launch Day from the Shopify App Store and activate the Lock Screen block on your theme.

## Install the app

Install Launch Day from the [Shopify App Store](https://apps.shopify.com/launch-day). Shopify will ask you to approve the permissions Launch Day needs, then open the app inside your Shopify admin.

## Activate the Lock Screen block

Launch Day locks your storefront through a **theme app extension** — a block you turn on once, the same way you'd add any other app block to your theme. Until this block is active, locks you create in Launch Day won't actually be enforced on your storefront.

1. From Launch Day's Dashboard, click **Activate** on the extension status banner (or go to your theme editor directly: **Online Store → Themes → Customize**).
2. In the theme editor, open **App embeds** in the left sidebar.
3. Turn on **Launch Day: Lock Screen**.
4. Save.

  If you switch to a different theme later, you'll need to activate the block again on the new theme — Shopify doesn't carry app embeds over automatically. Launch Day will email you and show a banner in the Dashboard if it ever detects the block has been turned off or left behind on a theme switch.
