# Scheduled Unlocks

> Set an exact date and time for a lock to release automatically — a paid plan feature.

Instead of unlocking a lock manually, you can schedule it to release automatically at an exact date and time. This is a **paid plan** feature and works with Site, Product, and Collection locks.

## Setting a schedule

When creating or editing a lock, set **Unlock timing** to **Schedule**, then choose:

* **Unlock date & time** — the exact moment the lock should release
* **Timezone** — which timezone that date/time is in (defaults to your store's timezone)

You don't need to be online, or even have your computer on, when the scheduled time arrives — Launch Day handles it automatically in the background.

## What happens at unlock time

At the scheduled moment, Launch Day:

1. Removes the password requirement from the storefront
2. Marks the lock as unlocked in your Dashboard
3. Sends you a confirmation email

## Changing or cancelling a schedule

Open the lock and click **Edit**. You can change the date/time, or switch **Unlock timing** back to **Manually** to cancel the automatic release entirely — the lock stays active until you remove it yourself.

## If a scheduled unlock fails

In rare cases (for example, a temporary issue reaching Shopify), a scheduled unlock can fail after several automatic retries. If this happens:

* Launch Day marks the lock as **Failed** in your Dashboard
* You'll receive an email letting you know
* The lock is very likely still active on your storefront — nothing was silently unlocked
* Open the lock from the Dashboard and click **Remove** to unlock it manually

See [Payment & Billing Issues](/troubleshooting/payment-issues) if you're not sure whether a failure is related to your subscription.
