# Lost or Forgotten Password

> How to find a lock's password again if you've forgotten it.

A lock's password is a shareable access code you set and hand out to customers — it isn't a login, and there's no "forgot password" flow for customers to reset it themselves.

## If you (the merchant) forgot the password

1. Open Launch Day's Dashboard and click **Edit** on the lock.
2. In the password field, click the eye icon to reveal it.
3. Copy it to share again, or type a new one and save to change it.

Changing a lock's password doesn't affect customers who are already unlocked and within their [access duration](/getting-started/creating-your-first-lock) window — it only applies to new password entries going forward.

## If a customer says the password isn't working

Double-check you're sharing the current password — if you've edited the lock and changed the password since sharing it originally, the old one will no longer work. Re-share the current password from the lock builder using the steps above.
