Launch Day password-protects your Shopify store — or just specific products and collections — and lets you schedule exactly when the lock comes off. It works for any merchant who needs to control exactly who can see or buy something, and exactly when that changes:
  1. Take pre-orders before a product is ready. Show off a collection, but keep the “Buy” button locked until you’re actually ready to fulfill — common for makers and small-batch creators releasing limited-run pieces.
  2. Give early access to a VIP list. Share a password with your best customers before opening a drop to everyone else.
  3. Gate wholesale or trade-only listings from retail customers. B2B sellers can password-protect wholesale products or bulk pricing so only invited trade accounts can see and buy them, while the rest of the store stays open to regular customers.
  4. Go on sale automatically, even when you’re not at your computer. Set an unlock date and time once — Launch Day handles the rest, which is especially useful for a timed product drop.
  5. Keep locked products out of Google Shopping and the Shop app, not just off your Online Store, so “locked” actually means locked everywhere a customer might find it.

What Launch Day does

  • Password-protect your entire site, a single collection, or specific products
  • Schedule an exact date and time for a lock to release automatically — no need to be online
  • Show a custom lock screen message, or hide the Buy button entirely instead of showing a full lock screen
  • Automatically pull locked products out of the Shop app and Google Shopping sales channels

How it works

Launch Day never touches your storefront’s page speed when nothing is locked — it only activates when you actually create a lock, through a theme app extension you turn on once during setup.
