A Product lock passcode-protects one or more specific products, while the rest of your store stays fully open. This is a paid plan feature.

When to use a Product lock

  • You’re taking pre-orders on a specific item before it’s ready to ship
  • You want to give VIP customers early access to one new product without locking your whole catalog
  • You’re testing a limited release and want to control exactly who can buy it

Creating a Product lock

Follow the steps in Creating Your First Lock and choose Product(s) as the lock scope. Click Select products to open the product picker and choose which products to lock — you can select up to 20 products in a single lock. If you need to lock more than 20 products at once, consider a Collection lock instead.

Editing which products are locked

Open the lock from the Dashboard and click Edit. You can add or remove products from the lock at any time — changes take effect on your storefront as soon as you save.

If a locked product is deleted

If you delete a product that’s in a Product lock, Launch Day - Store locks simply removes it from the lock — nothing else changes, and the lock keeps protecting the rest of its products. If you delete every product in the lock, the lock has nothing left to protect. It’s marked Broken – products deleted, and you get one email to say so. To fix it, open the lock and choose products that exist, then save. Or remove the lock.

Finding a passcode again

A lock’s passcodes are shareable access codes, not logins, so they’re shown in plain text in the lock builder — open the lock from the Dashboard and look under Passcode. A lock can have several passcodes (up to 10 on a paid plan); see Creating Your First Lock.

Combining with other locks

A product can be covered by more than one lock — for example a Product lock plus a Collection lock. Every active lock applies, and a customer can use the passcode from any of them. See Multiple Locks on the Same Content.

What customers see

A locked product’s page shows Launch Day - Store locks’ lock screen with a passcode field instead of the normal product page — unless you’ve turned on Hide Buy/Shop Buttons instead, in which case the product page stays visible but can’t be purchased.
